Jamie Carbaugh
BS, Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor
I'm Jamie, the person behind fitragamuffin, where I help people build a sustainable relationship with movement that has nothing to do with changing the size or shape of their bodies. As a Certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, and former Physical Therapist Assistant, I bring a unique blend of clinical experience and weight-inclusive fitness coaching to my work. My approach is rooted in the belief that movement should support your life, not become another source of pressure, guilt, or punishment.
Before becoming a personal trainer, I spent nearly five years working as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a skilled nursing facility, primarily with older adults. That experience shaped the way I view movement today: not as a means to achieve a particular appearance, but as a way to build strength, maintain independence, improve balance and mobility, and continue participating in the activities that make life meaningful.
I especially enjoy working with people who haven't felt welcome or supported in traditional fitness environments. This includes folks in larger bodies, older adults, people new to strength training, and individuals working to rebuild a healthier relationship with movement, including those navigating eating disorder recovery. I don't use weigh-ins, body measurements, before-and-after photos, or calorie-burning goals. Instead, I prioritize autonomy, flexibility, rest, and helping clients discover what movement can offer them beyond aesthetics.
Through virtual one-on-one personal training, I create individualized sessions that meet each person where they are, both physically and mentally. Some days that means building strength or challenging balance; other days it means slowing down, modifying movements, or honoring the need for rest. My goal isn't to help people become better at exercising for its own sake. It's to help them build confidence, capacity, and a movement practice that supports the life they want to live. Movement for more.
