Alex Coates
MS, Dipl.Psychologist
Alexandra Coates, MS, Dipl.Psychologist has worked in the eating disorder field since 2015. She is passionate about supporting clients to reconnect with themselves, their body and develop a peaceful relationship with food. Her mission to provide affordable and accessible treatment options for all English speakers in Germany struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, or body image struggles.
Alex believes in a strong therapeutic connection and believes that connection and community are key factors to recovery. She also believes that eating disorders can be like a weed. We can keep trimming the top but until we dig out the roots, the weed will always grow back. I work with a broad range of therapy interventions, including DBT and ACT.
Alex is German-American, born in New York, and did schooling both in the US and Germany (2012 M.S in School Psychology, 2015 M.S. in Mental Health Counseling). Alex has worked with and learned from Dr. Anita Johnston (author of “Eating in the Light of the Moon”) in residential, IOP&PHP Settings on the west coast of the United States. Since 2017, Alex has run a private practice in Feldafing, Germany.
Alex lives with her husband, son and daughter in Feldafing. She loves traveling, cooking, gymnastics and being in nature.
