Louise Pollard Lichtsteiner
Accredited Practising Dietitian Ernährungsberaterin SVDE
Louise is an Australian-qualified accredited practising dietitian and certified Intuitive Eating counsellor living near Basel, Switzerland. She specialises in supporting individuals and families struggling with eating disorders and disordered eating - including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and ARFID. She also sees people who have spent many years dieting or struggling with orthorexia, an obsession with “healthy eating” and who want to break free from diet culture to find freedom with food.
Using an approach that combines compassion, curiosity and humour, Louise helps her clients learn to eat without food rules, meet their nutritional needs and enjoy eating again. She believes firmly in the power of connection, providing individualised care and that full recovery from an eating disorder is possible.
Louise holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Sydney, Australia. Her qualifications are recognised by both Dietitians Australia and the Swiss Association of Dietitians (SVDE).
She has worked with adults and children with eating disorders and picky eating at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia and in the NHS, United Kingdom. Prior to starting her private practice in 2021, Louise was a lecturer for 10 years teaching students completing the undergraduate degree course for nutrition and dietetics at the Bern University of Applied Sciences in Bern, Switzerland.
Louise is passionate about doing what we can to both prevent disordered eating and eating disorders and identify them early in kids and teens. So, she also offers workshops and consults with international schools in Switzerland on helping kids learn about food and nutrition in safe ways, how to identify eating disorders in teens, and promoting body confidence at school.
She lives with her husband and Siamese cat near Basel. She loves hiking, swimming (especially in nature), baking, travelling and reading a good book.
